Stereolithography Apparatus Evolution: Enhancing Throughput and Efficiency of Pharmaceutical Formulation Development

Pharmaceutical applications of 3D printing technologies are growing rapidly. Among these, vat photopolymerisation (VP) techniques, including Stereolithography (SLA) hold much promise for their potential to deliver personalised medicines on-demand. SLA offers advantageous features pharmaceutical production, such as operating at room temperature and offering an unrivaled resolution. However, since conventional apparatus designed operate with large volumes a single photopolymer resin, significant throughput limitations remain. This, coupled the limited choice biocompatible polymers photoinitiators available, back development using technologies. Hence, aim this work was develop novel specifically allow rapid efficient screening formulations. A commercially available modified by designing fabricating resin tank build platform able print up 12 different formulations time, reducing amount sample required 20-fold. The subsequently used conduct high 156 placebo efficiency equipment formulation printability outcomes were evaluated. Improved time cost 91.66% 94.99%, respectively, has been confirmed quality, highly printable outputs, thus evidencing that modifications offer robust reliable tool optimize techniques in processes, which can, turn, support future clinical applications.
